Joint Research on Assessing Losses & Damages Associated
with Climate-induced Migration
Joint project with Sasakawa Peace Foundation (Tokyo, Japan) and Ecosensya (PH). This research project evaluated the 12-year climate recovery trajectories of survivor households relocated after Typhoon Yolanda. It captures the human side of long-term climate displacement to identify where traditional disaster recovery frameworks fall short. The study provided actionable policy intelligence for the global Fund for Responding to Loss and Damage (FrLD). It advocated for grant-based, rapid-access financing tailored to vulnerable 4th and 5th-class municipalities. Moving forward, the research recommends expanding data collection to track intergenerational impacts on youth and include overlooked remote coastal and island communities.

Climate vulnerability assessment of coastal Dagupan City, Philippines
Joint project between the Dagupan City LGU, Stimson Center (Washington, D.C.), Sasakawa Peace Foundation (Tokyo, Japan) and Ecosensya (PH). We pioneered the use of the Coastal and Ocean Risk Vulnerability Index (CORVI) in Southeast Asia to determine the top ecological, financial and political risks of Dagupan and drive local climate action through an educational webinar and face-to-face conference on key risk areas and mitigation recommendations in Dagupan. Our work was featured in the international UN Climate Change Conference (COP 26), Asian Development Bank Institute Webinar on CORVI, and COP 28.

On March 11, 2025, Ecosensya Solutions actively participated in a high-level climate adaptation forum organized under the flagship UK-Philippines Cooperation framework. The forum specifically aimed to mobilize strategic private and public investments to turn the Philippines’ National Adaptation Plan (NAP) into concrete local action.
During the event, Ecosensya presented its breakthrough lighthouse initiative:
"Adopt-a-Well: Reviving Drying Wells to Sustain Agriculture and Communities."

Presented as a scalable blueprint for localized water security, the initiative tackles compounding climate heating and seasonal droughts directly on the ground:

Case Study: Shell Pilipinas Engagement
Advancing Advancing Net-Zero and Climate Cooling Through Nature-Based Water Solutions
Shell Pilipinas partnered with Ecosensya Solutions to deliver a comprehensive climate education initiative across all tiers of the organization. Through customized learning modules, high-level workshops, and a dedicated podcast series, we engaged the Board of Directors, Country Coordinating Teams, and the general population of Shell Pilipinas.
The initiative shed new light on the critical, often overlooked role of water in achieving net-zero emissions. While traditional climate strategies focus heavily on carbon reduction, our sessions demonstrated how restored water cycles can actively cool the climate and directly counter the greenhouse emissions and warming effects contributed by the energy sector.

Bespoke Educational Architecture: Conceptualized and delivered customized learning modules, high-level workshops, and a targeted podcast series tailored for executive leadership and the general workforce.

Experiential Installations: Designed, fabricated, and managed interactive learning booths at key corporate and operational sites—the Tabangao Plant in Batangas and the Shell Main Office in Taguig City—to demonstrate the practical application of localized Nature-Based Solutions (NbS).
Core Learning Insights
While traditional climate strategies focus heavily on carbon footprint reduction, Ecosensya's curriculum demonstrated how restoring local water cycles actively cools the climate. The modules outlined how energy sector entities can utilize natural hydrological cycles to mitigate ambient heat and environmental degradation.
Interactive On-Site Booths
The experiential learning booths allowed employees to interact directly with simulated NbS water infrastructure models. These installations provided a practical look at how nature-positive engineering can be integrated into Shell's physical establishments and host communities to drive immediate climate cooling.

This is a joint project between PRAXIS Associates PH and Ecosensya to help Forest Foundation PH develop knowledge products for COP 28 on nature-based solutions (NbS) and forest conservation. Ecosensya developed a tool to help the Foundation screen their existing projects against the IUCN standards for NbS, and hosted a workshop to equip employees with a strong understanding of nature-based solutions.
