Climate vulnerability assessment of coastal Dagupan City, Philippines

Project type

Research and Report

Date

July 2020 - March 2022

Location

Dagupan City, Philippines

Role

Lead Researchers

Ecosensya, in collaboration with the Dagupan City LGU, Stimson Center (Washington, D.C.), and Sasakawa Peace Foundation (Tokyo, Japan), led the pioneering application of the Coastal and Ocean Risk Vulnerability Index (CORVI) in Southeast Asia. This initiative identified Dagupan’s most pressing ecological, financial, and political risks, providing a data-driven foundation for local climate action. To drive awareness and solutions, we organized an educational webinar and a local conference focused on key risk areas and mitigation strategies.

Our work has gained international recognition, with features at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP 26), the Asian Development Bank Institute Webinar on CORVI, and COP 28.
